Bulk segregant analysis of Cryptosporidium parvum IId with genetic crosses

Cryptosporidium spp. are intestinal parasitic protozoa of humans and animals that are a major cause of severe diarrhea. In this study, mice were infected with the progeny of genetic crosses between Cryptosporidium strains of different virulence, and the whole genome of the progeny that proliferated in the host body at different time points was sequenced and genes potentially associated with host infectivity, pathogenicity and adaptability were analyzed using bulk segregant analysis.
