Enhancement of postoperative pain in the obese rat with hyperlipidemia: central and peripheral sensitization in the nervous system

Many obese patients do not receive adequate analgesia for post-surgical pain because they have high pain sensitivity. Although this enhancement of post-surgical pain reduces their quality of life, the molecular genetic mechanisms of the enhancement in the pain transmission pathway have not been elucidated. Here, we evaluated changes in whole-transcriptome analysis in the dorsal root ganglia in an obese rat model of post-surgical pain to elucidate the mechanisms of the enhancement of pain.
