资源简介:
The COSMOS HI Large Extragalactic (CHILES) Survey data set entails calibrated and flagged UV plane data sets collected by the JVLA in New Mexico. The survey had been granted up to 300 hours of observing time during the 2013/2014 observation semester. The data will initially be used by the survey team members and later both the survey data as well as the data products will be published openly in compliance with the US open skies policy. Measurements of neutral hydrogen are essential to our understanding of the universe. Following reionization at z‰äö 6, most of the hydrogen outside of galaxies is ionized. Direct imaging of HI at large redshifts requires (prohibitively) long integration times and as a result efforts to directly image HI at higher redshifts have been far more constrained. The first survey covering a significant volume was done by Verheijen et al. 2007, 2010, who imaged 160 galaxies in two large volumes around clusters at z=0.2 using the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope (WSRT). Very little is known about the HI properties of individual galaxies at intermediate redshifts 0.1 ‰ä_ z ‰ä_ 0.45 The COSMOS HI Large Extragalactic (CHILES) Survey will be the first to explore the continuous redshift range out to z ‰äö 0.45, doubling the lookback time of imaging studies. CHILES is timely for both scientific and technical reasons and we have demonstrated the feasibility through the completion of a pilot survey out to z=0.2 . The HI measurements will have an angular resolution and depth at 0.1 ‰ä_ z ‰ä_ 0.4, that will be unmatched in SKA- pathfinder surveys, like DINGO, making this VLA program a unique and important complement to those wide-field surveys. Collection in formation - Application for RDSI Collection Development Storage. This option is for data collections that are expected to grow significantly and may be nationally significant, but are under development.
