Porphyromonas gingivalis A7UF Genome Draft Assemblies

Porphyromonas gingivalis strain A7UF is an oral isolate obtained from the Ann Progulske-Fox laboratory (University of Florida) that we sequenced using an Ion-Torrent platform (ION-PGM) and de novo assembled using TorrentSuite software. Sequence alignments of our assembled parent strain A7UF contigs against PG reference genome assemblies (downloaded from NCBI) were performed using Bowtie2. Our assembled contigs showed approximately 95% and 96% alignment to P. gingivalis strains W83 and A7436 respectively (data not shown).

We later created a PorU deletion mutant in A7UF (A7UFΔPorU) and sent it to Novogene for Illumina whole geneome sequencing (Illumina Novaseq PE150). We used Trimmomatic and Spades software (httpa:// https://usegalaxy.org/) for de novo assembly of the Illumina PE150 reads into contigs.
