The SENTINEL study (SequENcing of hisTorical clinIcal Escherichia coli from the NEtherLands) comprises over 1700 Escherichia coli isolates received by the Netherlands Reference Laboratory for Bacterial Meningitis (NRLBM) between 1975 and 2021. Most of the isolates have been isolated from neonates with meningitis. The isolates were sequenced to expand our knowledge on E. coli infecting this vulnerable patient group.
