Perceptions of poverty and its manifestation in three provinces of South Africa, KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape and Limpopo (PPMSA) 2014

This data set was collected in Limpopo, Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. The target populations were participants in NDA projects that were mainly concerned with income generation namely, the Vukuzenzele Weaving Project, the Zamokuphila Piggery Farming Cooperative, the Asisukume Msinga Agricultural Cooperative, the RASEKO Agricultural Cooperative and Emazizini Primary Cooperative.

15 respondents were selected from each project. The administered questionnaire dealt with policy perceptions of poverty across different themes.
Abstract:
The HSRC was contracted by the NDA to carry out an assessment of the manifestation of poverty in the nine provinces of the country.This poverty study was based on the NIDS panel data set. To enhance the quantitative findings from the panel data set, a survey of the perceptions and attitudes of people in the three poorest provinces identified from the quantitative analysis, was done. The survey was therefore part of the bigger Poverty Manifestation Study. This is the data presented here. It was collected in Limpopo, Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. The target populations were participants on NDA projects that were mainly concerned with income generation namely:

Vukuzenzele Weaving Project in Mthatha, Eastern Cape;

Zamokuphila Piggery Farming Cooperative in Mthatha, Eastern Cape;

Asisukume Msinga Agricultural Cooperative in KwaZulu-Natal;

RASEKO Agricultural Cooperative in Limpopo and

Emazizini Primary Cooperative in Lusikisiki, Eastern Cape.

15 respondents were selected from each project. The interviews were recorded and the files are part of the data being archived in this submission. The administered questionnaire dealt with policy perceptions of poverty across different themes:
