This dataset comprises measurements of fine-root traits and associated environmental variables collected across deep soil profiles in temperate forests of northern Germany. The data support the study by Pietig et al. (2026) “Fine-root trait variation in temperate trees follows an arc-shaped pattern along deep soil profiles”, New Phytologist. The data presented was used for all statistical analyses and visualizations presented in the paper.
