Leaf-tar spot microbiome

This project investigates the microbiome dynamics in corn (Zea mays) affected by tar spot disease, caused by the fungal pathogen Phyllachora maydis. By analyzing fungal communities in symptomatic and asymptomatic leaf tissues through ITS region sequencing, we characterize microbial diversity, explore interactions between fungi and the pathogen, and identify key microbial indicators.
