EXAEDRE-L2 SAETTA Science Data

Temporal and spatial measurements of the total (intra-cloud and cloud-to-ground) lightning activity based on the VHF radiation emitted by the lightning discharges.

EXAEDRE L2 SAETTA Science Data emanate from L1 SAETTA Science Data with additional attributes including flash ID number. EXAEDRE L2 SAETTA Science Data have been produced for the 5-month period of the EXAEDRE Enhanced Observation Period (EOP) from June 2018 to October 2018.

L2 SAETTA Science Data files are stored per 10-min period in ASCII format. Each file contains the list of VHF sources that have been reconstructed from the signals measured at the 12 SAETTA stations deployed in Corsica. Each VHF source is described similarly to L1 SAETTA Science Data by its occurrence time, its latitude, its longitude, its altitude, its VHF power, a quality parameter (CHI2), and the list of SAETTA stations that contributed to the location computation of the VHF source. Additionally the number of SAETTA stations that contributed in the reconstruction of the source is given as well as the flash ID number to which flash the source belongs.

Note that the flash ID starts from 0 at each 10-min period.
