Value of Chinese FDI to EU 2014-2023, by ownership of investment

In 2024, about 6.8 billion euros worth of direct investment transactions from China were completed in the 27 EU countries and the United Kingdom. Investment by state-owned enterprises (SOE) decreased again that year with SOE greenfield investment only amounting to 0.3 billion euros. In contrast, private greenfield investment increased to five billion euros, mainly driven by investments in the electronic vehicle (EV) sector.
