Haiti (2009): HIV/ AIDS Focus for Qualitative Segmentation: Clients of Female Commercial Sex Workers

PSI/Haiti has been working with female CSWs for the past three years on a project called Condomania. It is a community-based education project focusing on female CSWs working in the various bars and bordellos in Port-au-Prince and other large provincial cities. During these Condomania activities, the clients of the female CSWs are often present. The clients have questioned why PSI-Haiti does not have any programs directed towards them. This stated need for client-specific programs has motivated PSI/Haiti to conduct a FoQus for Qualitative Segmentation study in order to gather information to help develop client-specific programs and communications materials. The study was conducted in four villages in Haiti: Port-au-Prince, Carrefour, Delmas, and Petion-Ville. 24 clients of CSWs were selected to participate in the study, which used individual photonarrative interviews to collect information from the participants.
