The study was conducted to evaluate the genetic diversity, structure, and relatedness of wild grapevine species material preserved at the UDSA ARS grapevine germplasms. We used genome wide SNPs developed from genotyping by sequencing methods, coupled with phylogenetic analysis to uncover the underlying genetic diversity of the samples. This study is relevant for two aspects; clarifying the evolutionary relationships within the genus Vitis, and helping to curate the current species designations used in the USDA-GRIN system for grapevine.

本研究旨在评估美国农业部ARS葡萄种质资源库中保存的野生葡萄品种遗传多样性、结构和亲缘关系。本研究采用基因组全SNPs,由测序方法进行基因分型所开发,并结合系统发育分析,以揭示样本的潜在遗传多样性。本研究具有双重意义:一方面,有助于阐明属Vitis内部的进化关系;另一方面,有助于完善当前在USDA-GRIN系统中用于葡萄的物种鉴定体系。
