Mr Peter Harkess was a quantity surveyor with the Public Works Department in 1968 and volunteered to conduct tour groups over the Sydney Opera House site on Sundays during 1968-69.This series comprises a folder of material received and collected by Mr Harkess to assist in conducting the tours. It includes lists of persons and organisations undertaking tours, copies of brochures and guides to the Opera House, information leaflets, notes for guides, copies of reports and press statements re the Opera House, newspaper clippings and articles, and manuscript notes and tour commentaries.The records provide an insight into the interest, enthusiasm and pride which the Sydney Opera House aroused in both Departmental employees and the wider public.(18/1566.2). 1 bundle.
