RadAtlas is a knowledgebase for radiation-associated genes which are clearly involved in the biological response to radiation and affect survival. The present study was aimed at building a comprehensive database to provide a perspective on researching which genes are sensitive and crucial for responding to irradiation, or differentially expressed under conditions of irradiation. We built the database RadAtlas 1.0, which contains 1209 genes, including 598 confirmed radiation-associated genes with clear literature evidence and 611 potential radiation-associated genes from differential gene expression analysis with expression images. RadAtlas 1.0 was a gene-centric database focusing on radiation and its relative biological effects on organisms, and we believe that our work will be helpful for people to accurately grasp the effects of different doses of radiation on the human body and discovery an effective way to prevent or treat with radiation sickness.
