In the present study we evaluated the effects of different forms of nitrogen on the processing tomato yield and quality and on the recruitment of bacteria at the root-soil interface. To investigate the effects of different form of nitrogen fertilizers on processing tomato microbiota, a single hybrid of processing tomato was cropped in open field. Seven different fertilizers (pelleted digestate, liquid digestate, slow-acting liquid digestate, organo-mineral fertilizer based on digestate, synthetic fertilizer, slow-acting synthetic fertilizer, and no fertilization) were applied and the composition of processing tomato microbiota was characterized by a 16S rRNA gene sequencing analysis.
