Gene expression profiles in human breast tumor cell line MCF7

TGF-beta is known to promote apoptosis in normal epithelial cells, whereas breast tumor cells have resistance to TGF-beta-induced apoptosis, and this resistance is associated with tumor progression. Because we found that the forkhead box protein A1 (FOXA1) has a suppressive role in TGF-beta-induced apoptosis in human breast tumor cell line MCF7, we analyzed gene expression profiles in TGF-beta1-stimulated or unstimulated MCF7 cells after transfection with siRNA for luciferase or FOXA1 or siRNAs for FOXA1 and Smad3.
