资源简介:
This data contains information on the influence of Library 2.0 on Academic Library: A study on University of Ilorin and Bowen University Libraries. Since the inception of early libraries till date, library’s general function to select, process, organise and disseminate information remain germane. Houghton (2005) conceptualised “Library 2.0 as a way of making your library space (virtual and physical) more interactive, collaborative, and driven by community needs. Library 2.0 is an offshoot of web 2.0 in which both concepts are products of the emerging technologies in 21st century. Library users in modern libraries can have the opportunity to interact with library of their choice in meeting their information needs. Most of the technological tools and software used in automated libraries in Nigeria support the features of Library 2.0. KOHA software is a good example. KOHA enable the users to interact with the library staff on the services rendered because of the presence of RSS feeds supporting Library 2.0 features. These dataset helps to find out the number of library 2.0 tools that are put in place in the two selected academic libraries, determine the awareness level of Library 2.0 features among users of Timothy Olagbemiro Library and the university of Ilorin library, discover the various library 2.0 tools used for various library services, determine the perception of the users on the effectiveness of Library 2.0 enabled technologies on their use of library and determine the challenges faced in the use of library 2.0 features in the two libraries.
