资源简介:
Two dimensional numerical modeling based on a physically-based mathematical model was performed to compare the nature of earthquakes on normal and reverse faults in extension and compressional tectonic settings, respectively. The simulations were performed with the software Matlab. The results provided include variables such as the stress state and velocity field in two dimensions, through time. A matlab script is provided which enables users to plot these variables in time and space. Results from a total of 10 different simulations are provided, 5 in extension and 5 in compression. The results show that earthquakes depend significantly on the tectonic setting and stress state of the crust.
