Foliar nitrogen applications reshape the turfgrass microbiome and increase dollar spot suppression.

High level of nitrogen fertilizer application reduced microbial alpha diversity and significantly influenced beta diversity over time. High nitrogen fertilizer also reduced dollar spot severity in turfgrass and increased the abundance of oxalotrophic bacteria, as indicated by higher frc gene copy numbers. These findings suggest that nitrogen induced selection pressure may favor oxalotrophic bacteria, contributing to dollar spot suppression and potential biocontrol strategies.
