This research focused on the temporal variation of microbial communities associated with corals upon acute disturbances and how future reef conditions (increased seawater temperatures, decreased pH and high microalgae abundance) as cumulative stressors will influence the microbial response. The experimental investigation of the compositional and functional response of the coral microbiome upon disturbance will further validate any putative microbial indicators.
