New and comprehensive collections of the perennial rhizomatous grass Dactylis glomerata were made in NW Europe as part of the EU FP7 GrassMargins project between 2012 and 2013. Collections were taken along north to south and east to west clines in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Poland, UK and Ireland. Rhizome, seed and leaf samples were taken for analysis and genetic resource conservation. A representative sample was subject to plastid genome sequencing and SNPs discovery generated via a long read PCR and MiSeq sequencing approach.
