Metagenomic and transcriptomic analyses indicated that the flavin-dependent monooxygenase in the synthetic consortium FY3-SA may be involved in the cleavage of sulfonamide bond of SDM to generate 4-AP, which is then oxidized to produce 1,2,4-THB. NAD(P)H-dependent reductase acted as an electron transfer enzyme from NAD(P)H to NAD(P)+; 1,2-dioxygenase enzyme participated in the ring opening of 1,2,4-THB.
