Climate change is among the top issues for investors globally. The financial sector has demonstrated an unprecedented commitment to climate leadership by taking prominent roles in international climate initiatives such as the Montreal Carbon Pledge, the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), and the Paris Climate Agreement.

The Sovereign emissions dataset can be divided into three major parts:
- Sovereign Greenhouse Gas Emissions (Absolute and Intensities),
- Country Energy Use, and
- Country Fossil Fuel Reserves.

This information can therefore help investors understand the scale of emissions across countries, the fossil fuel reserves they hold, and the energy used within the country, which can be indicative of the magnitude of climate risk a country may face.
