Dataset of Student Perspectives on AI in Higher Education Impacts on Academic Integrity and the Role of AI Writing Tools in Skill Development

AI (Artificial Intelligence) technologies, especially chatbots powered by AI, are revolutionizing higher education by providing creative assistance for educational learning and writing. This study investigates the perspectives of Indonesian university students about the use of AI chatbots, emphasizing several factors like perceived usefulness, ease of use, enjoyment, risks, and others by applying a unified framework that combines the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) with the Value-Based Adoption Model (VAM). The research employed a quantitative approach for the analysis of the 7 factors and 11 hypotheses on a dataset with 408 valid respondents. By analyzing the data from the online survey, the study reveals important aspects of students’ perspectives, intentions, attitudes, and concerns regarding the use of AI for academic settings. The result will highlight the capability of AI chatbots to improve efficiency and tailor learning experiences, as well as tackle important concerns like plagiarism and data security. This study also offers important insights for developers and educators by pinpointing the elements that affect students’ use and acceptance. The result of this study will help to guarantee the ethical and effective incorporation of AI technologies in higher education, while also encouraging responsible innovation, policy development, and sustainable academic practices for the future of digital learning.
