Whole-genome sequencing reveals the genomic characterization and evolution of extraintestinal carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) in Gansu, China

We conducted whole-genome sequencing and comparative genomic analyses of 30 clinical isolates of carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) obtained from Gansu Province, China, thereby elucidating the genomic characteristics and epidemiological features of CRKP in Northwestern China. The analysis identified ST11-KL25 as the predominant circulating clone, harboring a diverse repertoire of virulence and antimicrobial resistance determinants, consistent with nationwide epidemiological patterns.
