The chromosome-level genome of the synchronously flashing firefly Pygoluciola qingyu (Coleoptera: Lampyridae)

Pygoluciola qingyu Fu and Ballantyne, 2008 (Coleoptera: Lampyridae: Luciolinae), is the first synchronously flashing firefly species documented from in China. The enchanting scene of synchronous flashing has captured the attention of tourists, scientists, and researchers. However, the lack of genomic resources has impeded our understanding of the mechanisms of synchronous flashing. In this study, we constructed a high-quality chromosome-level P. qingyu genome using PacBio HiFi sequencing and Hi-C technologies.
