资源简介:
As climate change exacerbates coastal flooding threats, critical infrastructure like transportation and energy systems faces increasing disruptions. Rapid intensification of hurricanes, flash floods, and high tide flooding occur more frequently, leaving coastal communities, especially underserved populations, little time to prepare for evacuation. To address this, we're developing a framework to assess how extreme flooding events impact infrastructure over time and under varying climate conditions. Our focus is on understanding how the timing of flooding affects the civil infrastructure and socioeconomic impact on coastal communities. This poster presents early findings using a storm surge machine learning model and a digital elevation model-based compound flood model to rapidly assess flood events. Our research investigates how the timing of these events significantly alters their socioeconomic effects.
