We demonstrate that CXCR5+CD8+ T cells are a distinct human T-cell subset that homes to follicles and exerts strong antitumor activity compared with CXCR5-CD8+ T cells. Importantly, this subset is associated with improved outcome in follicular lymphoma patients. Overall design: Total RNA from FACS-sorted CD45RA+CD8+, CXCR5-CD45RA-CD8+, and CXCR5+CD45RA-CD8+ T cells from human tonsil samples were extracted using Trizol, followed by purification using NucleoSpin RNA XS kit. Tonsils come from tonsillectomy; these patients do not have follicular lymphoma.
