Global occurrence records of Helotiales fungi with host plant information

This dataset contains plant-associated Helotiales occurrence records and the corresponding ITS1–ITS2 sequence data derived from release 5.0 of the GlobalFungi database (https://globalfungi.com/). The occurrence dataset consists of 37,688 unique occurrences from 1,940 sampling locations across 41 countries. Each occurrence represents a unique combination of a Helotiales Species Hypothesis (SH), associated plant identity, and sampling location, with sampling locations defined by unique latitude–longitude combinations. The dataset includes 1,996 Helotiales SHs representing 184 genera and 36 families, associated with 362 plant genera representing 117 families and 47 orders. The accompanying sequence dataset contains ITS1–ITS2 sequences corresponding to the Helotiales SHs represented in the occurrence dataset. Fungal taxonomic names are retained as recorded in the GlobalFungi database, including synonymous names such as Hyaloscypha and Meliniomyces.
