Fecal Microbiota of Buryatian Horses Grazing Cold-Season Grass Pastures

The Buryatian horse comes from the Mongolian breed, with which it has much in common in exterior and biological features. It also has a high level of similarity with the Trans-Baikal breed, which also showed a high level of genetic diversity. The diversity of the faecal microbiota of the Buryatian horse has not been studied yet. In our study, we investigated the seasonal fluctuations in the diet composition of pasture and the changes in the structure and composition of faecal microbiota in horses grazing on steppe grass pastures in warm- and cold-season.
