The Heilongjiang River (also known as the Amur River) basin refers to the drainage area of the Heilongjiang River and its tributaries, including the Ussuri River, Songhua River, Bureya River, Zeya River, Huma River, Shilka River, Hailar River, etc. The highest point of the Amur River basin is the Khentii Mountains (elevation: 2473 m), the source of the Amur River located east of Ulan Bator, the capital of Mongolia; the lowest point is the mouth of the Amur River into the Tatar Strait, with an elevation of 0 m. The Amur River basin starts from the Khentii Mountains in Mongolia in the west, runs northeast along the Yablonoi Mountains and Stanovoy Range (Outer Khingan Mountains), extends eastward to Skalistoy Mountain (2412 m) and Gorod-Makit Mountain (2295 m), passes through the Bureya Range (2071 m), and empties into the Tatar Strait of the Sea of Okhotsk near the city of Nikolaevsk-on-Amur. From the Khentii Mountains, the river flows southeast into Horqin, China, reaches Gongzhuling in Jilin Province, then turns northeast to the Sikhote-Alin Mountains in Russia, all the way to the mouth of the Amur River. The four extreme geographic coordinates of the basin are: westernmost at 107°31'43" E, easternmost at 141°14'22" E; southernmost at 41°42'39" N, northernmost at 55°56'20" N. The total drainage area of the basin is 208.33×10⁴ square kilometers (2,083,345.35 km²), and the length of the basin boundary is 16,834.48 kilometers. The Amur River basin covers parts of Mongolia (Khentii Province, Dornod Province, Sükhbaatar Province, Dornogovi Province, Central Province), China (Heilongjiang Province, Jilin Province, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Liaoning Province), Russia (Chita Oblast, Amur Oblast, Zabaykalsky Krai, Khabarovsk Krai, Jewish Autonomous Oblast, Amur Oblast, Primorsky Krai), and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (Ryanggang Province). It is the largest river basin in Northeast Asia by drainage area. This dataset is generated based on ASTER-DEM data, with preliminary results extracted using a basin area extraction algorithm, followed by matching with Google Earth remote sensing imagery. The data is stored in .kmz and .shp formats, with a compressed size of 5.25 MB.
