Canadian Gallup Poll, November 1988, #811_2

This Gallup poll seeks the opinions of Canadians, on predominantly political issues. The questions ask opinions about candidates in the upcoming federal election, the impact and role of media in the campaign and the respondents' degree of interest in the electoral campaign. There are also questions on other topics of interest such as voting choice, free trade and predictions for 1989. The respondents were also asked questions so that they could be grouped according to geographic, political and social variables. Topics of interest include: degree of interest in upcoming election; likelihood that respondent will choose to vote; voter preferences; factors influencing voter's choice; respondent predictions of election's outcome; perception of media and advertising surrounding the campaign; the Free Trade agreement; assessments of party leaders; and predictions for 1989 and beyond. Basic demographics are also included.
