Plasmid from novel Microbacterium species isolated from the ISS

A novel species, designated as JC-0055T, was isolated from the wall of the crew quarters on the International Space Station (ISS). The biochemical, phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and phylogenomic features substantiated the affiliation to JC-0055T as a new species of Microbacterium for which we propose the name Microbacterium mcarthurae, Here, we sequenced the associated plasmid to determine whether there were genes associated with pathogenicity that were not captured during whole genome sequencing and to consider the potential for transfer of genes of interest that can occur during HGT events.
