建立和完善青藏高原及其邻区新生代地层年代框架,对揭示高原碰撞隆升变形的构造演化历史、认识高原风化剥蚀的时空变化规律、厘清青藏高原隆升及其气候环境效应机制等具有重要意义。本数据集对来自青藏高原及其邻区的临夏盆地、伦坡拉盆地、思茅盆地、剑川盆地和曲靖盆地的新生代地层,开展了基于磁性地层学、辅以火山岩/火山凝灰岩/沉凝灰岩或碎屑锆石U-Pb年代学和/或生物地层学的系统年代学研究,据此完善或建立了青藏高原及其南北新生代高精度地层年代序列。精确限定:临夏盆地对康剖面90 m黄土沉积地层年代为~8.1-3.7 Ma;伦坡拉盆地达玉剖面1890 m河湖相沉积地层年代为~41.8-21.5 Ma;剑川盆地双河剖面300 m河湖相沉积地层为~42.7-36 Ma;曲靖盆地蔡家冲剖面252 m河湖相沉积地层年代为~47-36 Ma;思茅盆地江城剖面932 m的咸水湖相夹膏盐沉积地层年代为>112-63 Ma。以上年代学结果的相关实验在中国科学院青藏高原研究所、兰州大学、德国图宾根大学、美国德克萨斯大学奥斯汀分校完成:古地磁实验在磁屏蔽室中利用热退磁仪和超导岩石磁力仪完成;碎屑锆石及火山岩/火山凝灰岩/沉凝灰岩锆石U-Pb年代学实验利用激光剥蚀电感耦合等离子体质谱仪(LA-ICP-MS)完成。本数据集为后续构造演化、气候环境等研究提供了重要的年代学支撑,产出了一批有影响的原创理论成果。
Establishing and refining the Cenozoic stratigraphic chronological framework of the Tibetan Plateau and its adjacent regions is of great significance for revealing the tectonic evolutionary history of the plateau’s collision, uplift and deformation, understanding the spatio-temporal variations of plateau weathering and denudation, and clarifying the mechanisms of the Tibetan Plateau’s uplift and its associated climatic and environmental effects. This dataset conducts systematic geochronological studies on the Cenozoic strata from the Linxia Basin, Lunpola Basin, Simao Basin, Jianchuan Basin and Qujing Basin in the Tibetan Plateau and its adjacent regions, based on magnetostratigraphy, supplemented by volcanic rock/volcanic tuff/sedimentary tuff or detrital zircon U-Pb geochronology and/or biostratigraphy. Accordingly, high-precision Cenozoic stratigraphic chronological sequences of the northern and southern parts of the Tibetan Plateau have been refined or established. The chronological constraints are precisely defined as follows: the 90-m loess sedimentary strata of the Duikang Section in the Linxia Basin date to ~8.1–3.7 Ma; the 1890-m fluvio-lacustrine sedimentary strata of the Dayu Section in the Lunpola Basin date to ~41.8–21.5 Ma; the 300-m fluvio-lacustrine sedimentary strata of the Shuanghe Section in the Jianchuan Basin date to ~42.7–36 Ma; the 252-m fluvio-lacustrine sedimentary strata of the Caijiachong Section in the Qujing Basin date to ~47–36 Ma; the 932-m saline lacustrine deposits interbedded with gypsum-salt layers of the Jiangcheng Section in the Simao Basin date to >112–63 Ma. Relevant experiments for the above geochronological results were completed at the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Lanzhou University, University of Tübingen (Germany) and The University of Texas at Austin (USA): Paleomagnetic experiments were conducted in a magnetic shielding room using thermal demagnetizers and superconducting rock magnetometers; detrital zircon and volcanic rock/volcanic tuff/sedimentary tuff zircon U-Pb geochronological experiments were completed using Laser Ablation Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS). This dataset provides important geochronological support for subsequent studies on tectonic evolution, climate and environment, and has yielded a number of influential original theoretical achievements.
