We investigated the influence of physical and chemical parameters associated with soil aggregates of different sizes (2mm - <0.056mm) on ammonia-oxidizing bacterial communities. To address this we collected two field soils (Michigan, US), dry sieve the soils, and used the amoA amplicon sequencing approach (Illumina MiSeq PE300, amoA1F+amoA2R (Rothauwe et al. 1997)).
