VPRS 19752 Almoner Case Book, Midwifery Department

This series records the social welfare and conditions of individuals who used the midwifery department of The Royal Women's Hospital (VA 1241). This function allowed for tracking of vulnerable individuals, including those who may need care consequently of this visit. It was also used to log what facilities of The Royal Women's Hospital was utilised by these individuals. The case book logs an individual's visit, and the social work services they acquired. This includes referral by a midwife, attendance to the Follow-Up Ward, marital status, confinement fee, home/agency visits, inquiries made/received, reports sent/received, transportation fares, dental treatments, if treatment expedited, extra nourishment, clothing provided, and any additional remarks.
