The SoSEAL research project aims to develop a nature-inspired geo-engineering solution for reducing soil permeability in-situ. This technique uses aluminium-organic matter flocs to block pore spaces in soils as the mechanism to reduce the permeability. In order to understand to what extent aluminium-organic matter flocs can reduce soil permeability in-situ and can be controlled, a full-scale pilot experiment was carried out using this technique to install a 70m long flow barrier at the dike that surrounds a water reservoir in de Biesbosch, the Netherlands. The construction of the flow barrier was divided into zone A and B, where monitoring wells were installed in all zones. CTD divers were placed in the monitoring wells to measure hydraulic head, temperature and electrical conductivity regularly. In addition, groundwater sampling and chemistry analysis were performed in a regular basis.The well set-up can be found from the dataset. This dataset contains field moniotring data collected in the time period from 2017-04-15 until 2019-07-31, where the field injection took place in June 2018. Data include: 1) the change in hydraulic heads in monitoring wells over time; 2) the groundwater chemistry analysis with sample took from the monitoring wells; 3) the field pumping/infiltration test performed before and after the injection. In addition to the field data, lab column tests results are included in the dataset.Type of date: 1) raw data came out the CTD divers in spreadsheet format; 2) information of the field pumping/infiltration test; 3) results of the groundwater chemistry analysis and 4) lab column experiment results.
