资源简介:
We analyzed the distribution and burden of dermatomycosis, a fungal skin infection, in Colombia from 2010 to 2019. Dermatomycosis treatments typically last four to six weeks, but in rural areas with continuous exposure and limited medical access, the condition can become chronic. Using data from the SISPRO database, we examined over 4.5 million visits for dermatomycosis. We found that adults, women, and urban populations were most affected, with the highest visit frequencies in the Andean and Caribbean regions. The condition's prevalence is influenced by Colombia's tropical climate and socio-economic conditions, particularly in rural areas with high exposure to agriculture. This study provides the first comprehensive overview of dermatomycosis in Colombia, highlighting the need for targeted public health strategies and improved treatment access to reduce its impact.
