The molecular basis for thermogenesis and volatile production in the titan arum

Amorphophallus titanum is well known as one of the heat producing plant species, commonly referred as corpse flower. Little was known about the molecular basis of thermogenesis and volatilization; we made use of transcriptome and metabolite analyses to uncover the underlying mechanisms that enable thermogenesis and volatile production in the titan arum.
