FAN-02 Benchmark: Enclosed Centrifugal Fan with Duct System

This benchmark case provides a comprehensive database related to a enclosed radial fan. The goal is to provide validation data for fluid-structure-acoustic interaction in enclosed turbomachines. The benchmark case is based on a joint collaboration project between the Institute of Fluid Mechanics (LSTM) at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuermberg and the Institute of Fundamentals and Theory in Electrical Engineering (IGTE) at Graz University of Technology. Both the housing geometry and the benchmark centrifugal fan, fluid domains for CFD calculations, meshes for structural acoustics, and a wide variety of measurement and validation data are provided. An overview of the data is provided in the paper: “ An Overview of the Benchmark Case for the Aeroacoustics and Structural Acoustics of an Enclosed Centrifugal Fan”. We ask all users to cite the relevant papers as well as the dataset and to acknowledge the authors as the creators of the benchmark case. Additional data and detailed explanations will be published in two comprehensive papers in Acta Acustica in the course of 2026.
