VPRS 18888 House Committee Minutes

This series comprises meeting minutes for the House Committee of the Essendon and District Memorial Hospital (VA 1247). The House Committee was formed with the responsibility of visiting the institution and investigating the standards and general conditions of the hospital. Matters under consideration included maintenance and repairs, equipment, rules for staff, and domestic services such as cleaning, laundry, catering an staff establishment. The records include minutes regarding operational matters of the hospital and reports made to the House Committee. The reports are submitted by hospital staff such as the Engineer, regarding machinery and property; the Matron, regarding admissions, daily bed averages, staff resignations and commencements and midwifery bookings; and the Manager, regarding medical staff, furniture and equipment. Also included within the series is minutes of the Safety Committee.
