Cancer in Germany Attributable to Human Papilloma Virus

Cases of cervical cancer with epithelial, squamous cell, basal and transitional cell origin, adenocarcinomas and cystic carcinomas as well as mixed tumors; squamous and transitional cell carcinoma of the anus and oropharynx; vulval and penile cancers of squamous and transitional cell origin were included. The oropharynx includes the base of tongue, lingual tonsil, overlapping lesions of tongue, tongue not otherwise specified, soft palate, uvula, overlapping lesions of palate and palate not otherwise specified , the tonsils, oropharynx, and other ill-defined sites in lip, oral cavity and pharynx including waldeyer ring.
For our analyses, we retrieved incident cancer cases from the nationwide data pool for 2013.
