An Advanced Ionospheric Sounder (AIS), developed by the Italian Istituto Nazionalle di Geofisica e Vulcanologia, was installed in the Spanish Antarctic Station Juan Carlos I (SAS JCI) during the 2004-2005 survey. This digisonde makes measurements of the overhead ionosphere every 10 minutes.
Due to the limitation of electrical power production and its consumption, the ionospheric records are limited to the time in that the SAS JCI remains opened during the summer austral, since it is only during this period that there is enough electrical power to feed the AIS.
Data are available from 2005 until the end of the last survey.
