This study aims to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying cold adaptation in the economically important ornamental plant Rosa rugosa. We employed transcriptome sequencing to analyze the temporal dynamics and organ specific (leaves and stems) transcriptional responses to cold stress. Our goals were to identify key cold-responsive genes and regulatory pathways involved in this process. The analysis revealed extensive organ-specific and time-dependent transcriptional reprogramming, identifying a core set of conserved early cold-responsive genes enriched in critical pathways such as carbohydrate metabolism, hormone signaling, and MAPK signaling. This research providing valuable targets and insights for molecular breeding aimed at improving cold tolerance in Rosa rugosa and related species.
