Clinical experiment: gut microbiota pattern in stroke patients (stroke dysbiosis index, SDI) was an independent predictor for early outcome of ischemic stroke patients

We focused on the association of gut dysbiosis and ischemic stroke, its brain injury and early outcome. A training patient cohort was conducted and a stroke dysbiosis index (SDI) model was established based on the gut dysbiosis pattern in ischemic stroke patients. Another patient cohort was conducted to validate the predictive model. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to assess the association of SDI and admission outcome. Animal model was applied to investigate the potential causal effect of disturbed gut microbes in patients on acute brain injury.
