The dataset is intended to train and evaluate lightweight computer vision models for the fast detection of illuminated folios in medieval manuscript corpora, especially in IIIF-based heritage and research workflows. It is a curated mixture of existing medieval manuscript image datasets and manually corrected samples, covering medieval and early Renaissance manuscript and early printed material. Labels include two classes: 0 for non_illuminated and 1 for illuminated. The dataset is distributed as a single Parquet file with columns for image data, label, label name, filename, SHA-1 checksum, source split, and MIME type. Data provenance includes multiple source datasets and IIIF manifests, but residual errors may exist and should be used with caution.
