The Afghan Hound is one of the oldest purebred dogs, quite possibly the oldest, as the breed predates written history. The Afghan Hound hails from the cold, mountainous regions of Afghanistan, India, and Pakistan. As a breed born in the mountains, the Afghan hound has a thick coat and large paws.
