Listed variables comprise: Event (univocal code for each breeding attempt) Clutch.wave (whether the clutch belongs to the first or the second clutch wave) Mother (identity of the laying female, coded by her ring number) Year Age (of the laying female) Age.bin (binary categorization of the age of the laying female. 1: first year; 2 adult) Treatment (T: androgen treatment; C: control) Nest Laying.order (ordinal variable with three levels. 1: eggs found in the first two days from the onset of laying; 2: eggs found on the central two days; 3: eggs found on the last two days) Clutch.mother (the clutch wave of birth of the laying female) Brood.size.Mother (the brood size of the clutch of birth of the laying female: the number of chicks in the female’s birth clutch) Length, Width, Volume (measurements of the eggs) Hue, Chroma, BGC (colour variable of the eggs) Nm360 – nm700 (reflectance values of the spectrum of the colour of each egg) Wia, alm, afm (within-individual age, age of last measurement, age of first measurement)
