This dataset accompanies the paper: Temperature and Pollinators Drive Evolutionary and Plastic Variation in Leaf and Petal Epicuticular Waxes See READ_ME_Epicuticular_wax_data.txt for detailed file descriptions and usage instructions. These data files were generated by growing the offspring of plants that evolved under different temperatures (cold: 22°C, hot: 27°C plus one day a week 30°C) and were pollinated by different pollinators (Bombus terrestris, Pieris rapae, hand pollinated controls) in a hot and cold greenhouse. We sampled petals from 10 flowers and one leaf, which we extracted with chloroform and derivatized with BSTFA before analysis on a GC-MS and GC-FID. We added C18 as internal standard to later quantify each compound based on the FID data (µg values in tables). MS data (NIST database, Kovats indices) was used to identify the compounds (see compound names in the column headers).
