PRAGMATIC STRATEGIES IN RENDERING EMOTIONAL EXPRESSIONS FROM ENGLISH INTO UZBEK IN CONTEMPORARY LITERARY PROSE

The present article examines pragmatic strategies employed in translating emotional expressions from English into Uzbek in contemporary literary prose. Drawing on the theoretical frameworks of speech act theory, relevance theory, and pragmatic equivalence, the study explores how culturally embedded emotions — love, longing, heartbreak, and nostalgia — are conveyed across two typologically and culturally distinct language systems. The analysis demonstrates that achieving pragmatic adequacy in literary translation requires not only linguistic competence but also deep cultural literacy and sensitivity to implied meaning.
